A Few Words About the essays, from Markus

Back in 2006, during my first museum exhibition, I was asked to make a sort of "Mission Statement" for the Coyotes. I did, and it lit a flame within me, a desire that one day I would tell the incredibly unlikely, wildly odd story of my life. I decided I would open up my soul and disclose its contents, and that I would do it with exacting clarity. I would leave nothing on the table. No regrets, Coyote. I would speak out on every issue that matters to me, and let everyone who's curious know EXACTLY how it is that the sentiments that are featured on my artworks came into my head.

Well, ready or not, here they come.

Almost from the moment I was able to understand that I had my own brain, I also understood that it was very different, and so did those close to me. That brain has taken me on a strange ride, a "Spectacular Journey" if you will, and it's time for me to share some mental pictures from that journey. There are subversive insights and radical musings littered all along the way, not to mention more than a few near-death experiences. I don't think it's an overstatement to say that every single person who reads the essays in their entirety will be changed by them. Regarding the precious nature of life and the easy availability of individual destiny: they are a persuasive piece of propaganda.

There are five essays in total, besides the Introductory booklet, which is now all but sold out.

The essays will be released over the next three years, and, all combined, total more than 1000 pages. The publications will all be fine-art products, and will be available exclusively in the galleries that sell my work. They are all to be published in a limited-edition of 444 pieces (each). In addition, I will be visiting each and every one of the galleries that exhibits my work to talk about the essays, so stay tuned for where and when. This is going to be wild, untamable fun.

This particular note marks the release of ESSAY # 2
GLEANINGS FROM A WHISKER WHEAT HARVEST

Before I go, I want to take a moment to thank Sher, who served as the Art Director and Production Designer of this entire project. She breathed life into it, and I am so very thankful for her efforts. I love you, Sweetie.

Warmest regards,
M
